Texts from the Roman era document the use of zinc in salves for treating wounds. On the grocery store shelves you will find zinc in lozenges for fighting colds and flu, and zinc in diaper rash formulas.

Vitamin B is also well known for its nutritional benefits. Actually a group of 8 distinct vitamins, the B vitamins are important for maintaining skin and muscle tone, and supporting the immune system and nervous system.

What you may not know is that both of these are necessary for cell growth and repair. A normal of the body function is the death and birth of cells. Daily old cells die off and fresh, healthy new cells are generated. Since Liquid Joint focuses on the repair of tissues involved in joint function, these ingredients are essential in rebuilding healthy joints.

Liquid Joint is an excellent food supplement for the support of general good health as well as joint health. Please remember though, it is a supplement and not intended to replace good eating habits. At Gojis and More, we hope to improve your health and well being. Your best source of nutrition is always a balanced diet. We offer supplements to enhance not replace healthy eating.

Though you may not recognize the name of this free radical attacking antioxidant, when you learn of its most common source you will be surprised. According to Wikipedia, lycopene is another naturally occurring element in the body. But as in the Liquid Joint ingredients we have discussed earlier, it depletes as we age.

By adding Lycopene, to Liquid Joint along with Condroitin, Glucosamine, and Collagen, we are replenishing key elements in your body to deter the aging process and the joint pain that accompanies aging. We don’t claim to cure joint diseases, but instead we are providing the body with the nutrients necessary for the body to heal itself.

Dr. Leticia Rao, of St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, reported to the First Int’l Conference on Health Benefits of Lycopene that “Post-menopausal women tend to lose bone which results in low bone density, leading to osteoporosis. To retain good bones, there must be a balance in the activities of bone-forming and bone-destroying cells. The presence of free radicals in the body can upset that balance favoring bone-destroying cells; however, lycopene might play a restorative role by protecting against the formation of free radicals, limiting oxidative stress.”

Now for the surprise. What is a great natural source for Lycopene? The tomato in your garden. Lycopene is what makes the tomato red. It is also found in watermelon! While these are fairly common foods in our diets, it is unlikely that you eat them on a daily basis. Also, many people are sensitive to the high acidity in tomato.

Enjoy your tomatoes and watermelon, take Liquid Joint daily and protect and restore your joint health.

Eating Healthy,

Horsetail? Ok, I am only an amateur herbalist so I had to do some reading up on this one. Horsetail grows all over the world but it loves the cool damp woodlands of the Pacific Northwest. If you are a hiker, you have probably seen it many times, as I have. I didn’t know until recently that it was traditionally a medicinal plant.

This is prehistoric plant with a long history of medicinal use in many cultures. It was used as a diuretic to increase urination and according to Wikipedia “In herbalism it used to treat kidney and bladder problems, gastro-enteritis, and prostrate and urinary infections.” But it is much more that that. Because it contains silicon, potassium and calcium, Wikipedia reports that “it is prescribed to care for conjunctive tissues (cartilage, tendons, and bones).”

This is another traditional medicinal herb that medical science is just beginning to explore. Pubmed reported a number of studies being done on Field Horsetail (Equisetum arvense). The benefit of using this herb in our Liquid Joint is that it combines the anti-inflamatory properties of being a diuretic with properties that build and strengthen cartilage, tendons and bones.

At Goji’s and More, we hope to hear from some of you who suffer from arthritis, and let us know how well this works for you.

Eating Healthy,

I try. I really try to give you some good scientifically based information on the ingredients in our products. But, collagen is proving to be a problem for me. Why? When I went to PubMed (one of my favorite sources of information) there were only 116389 articles on current research on collagen.

A brief, (I mean really brief) look at some of the abstracts convinced me that collagen is extremely important to just about every organ in the body. Sufficient collagen is needed for the bones, the muscles, cartliage, skin and all the things I don’t even know how to pronounce.

Wikipedia tells me that collagen is a fiberous protein that provides our cells structure. Like Glucosamine and Condroitin, Collagen is another substance that we create naturally within our bodies. That is, until we begin to age. The loss of collagen in the skin is why our skin thins and we wrinkle as we grow older (not because we laughed or frowned too much when we were younger). So, if you have those fine lines around your eyes, (or if like me they are more like canyons) the odds are you are also losing collagen in your joints as well.

Supplementing your diet with collagen, glucosamine and condroitin in Liquid Joint will not cure arthritis. But it will help keep you moving longer and easier by supporting good joint health.

Chondroitin Sulfate is yet another substance that occurs naturally in our bodies, but diminishes with age. According to Wikipedia “Chondroitin sulfate is an important structural component of cartilage and provides much of its resistance to compression. Along with glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate has become a widely used dietary supplement for treatment of osteoarthritis.”

If you are over 40 like me, I’m not telling how far over 40 I am, you are probably familiar with the twinges of pain in your knees and hips. The farther you get “over 40″ the worse and more frequent these pains become. Often doctors recommend Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen for occasional relief. But constant, daily use of these seemingly innocent over the counter products and be dangerous. Do a google search on these OTC Drugs and you will be over whelmed with information about potentially fatal side effects.

Liquid Joint Health is not a drug or a medication that treats the pain or symptoms of Osteo and Rhuematoid Arthritis. It is a food supplement that support your body in staying heathy or getting healthy and preventing disease.

According to Wikipedia “In the United States, glucosamine is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for medical use in humans.. Nevertheless, glucosamine is a popular alternative medicine used by consumers for the treatment of osteoarthritis…In Europe, glucosamine is approved as a medical drug and is sold in the form of glucosamine sulfate.”

An article published by WHO (World Health Organization) Collaborating Center for Public Health Aspects of Rheumatic Diseases, Liege, Belgium, states that “glucosamine sulfate has also been shown, in two independent studies, to prevent the joint space narrowing observed at the femorotibial compartment [spaces around the knee] in patients with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis.”

This article, available through PubMed, is only one of 10964 studies of glucosamine and it effect on osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. So that you are fully informed, you should know, a number of these articles refute the effectiveness of glucosamine. Whether the difference in results is due to dosage, or method of delivery, or bias, I cannot tell. I do know that many people report relief from arthritic pain using glucosamine.

Glucosamine is a substance naturally found in the body. As we age, we tend to produce less than is needed for joint health. Liquid Joint combines Glucosamine Sulfate with Chondroitin Sulfate, Lycopene, Horsetail, Collagen, B Complex and Zinc to help your body naturally repair joint damage and promote joint health. The liquid form is tasty, easy to swallow and the nutrients are more quickly absorbed.

Eating Healthy,
