What is the significance of antioxidants and how do Goji Berries relate?
The function of antioxidants is to neutralize free radicals. Free radicals damage or destroy cells and DNA if allowed to go unchecked. The average person only gets about 20-25% of the daily recommended allowance (RDA) of what it takes to adequately offset the free radicals. Excessive free radicals in our system can greatly increase the chances of contracting cancer and many of the other diseases afflicting our general population.
Goji berries are known for being the richest source of antioxidants, and if a person gets enough antioxidants in their diet, they greatly increase the likelihood of having a healthier and longer life span. It is not uncommon for people on the Himalayas who routinely eat Goji berries to live to 120 years of age. Much of the reason for this is because when cells or DNA is damaged, the next generation of cells is more aged and weaker than the previous generation.
